  My husband had a colonoscopy on August 14, 2017, we are self pay so the surgery center called us and gave us the price $1,342.60 prior to the procedure that had to be paid prior to the procedure. We also had to pay the doctor $300.00 and anesthesiologist $765.00 prior to the procedure. And before I go on let me say they never not 1 time said to me that the price could change if biopsy's were taken if there are polyps present. And according to my doctor the colonoscopy is 1 procedure and removing polyps is part of the colonoscopy in which he may use different techniques a biopsy, hot biopsy or snare as he explained. The doctor has only charged us for 1 procedure, the anesthesiologist has only charged us for 1 procedure, however the surgery center is charging us for 2 procedures which the 1 procedure was $1,342.60 that we paid in advance the morning we arrived at the center for the colonoscopy. On 8/25/17 we received a bill in the mail for an additional $1,342.60 we called and spoke with the billing office and had many conversations in which they would not bend one bit, I asked them why they did not tell us up front that there could be more charges if the doctor removed polyps? And why are the charging us for 2 full procedures, he was prep'ed once, was only put to sleep once, had 1 colonoscopy procedure lasted about 10 minutes. Our doctor say's this is not right for them to do, but he cannot do anything about it. He says it is normal protocol to remove polyps using different techniques during a colonoscopy. I have learned by not having insurance that you are taken advantage of because they know they can ruin your credit and tell you so, they cannot bully a insurance company like they do a individual. So today they call me and said they will take $1,074.08 if I pay in full today. So they are giving me a $268.52 discount if I pay in full, this is a shake down he had 1 procedure. Be careful if you use this surgery center they are price gougers.
